
Propstore have shared some exclusive unpublished behind-the scenes photos from Star Wars: Return of the Jedi from the Stuart Ziff Collection, available as two different lots in the upcoming Entertainment Memorabilia Live Auction between March 25th and 27th, 2026.
A collection of over 150 unpublished behind-the-scenes photos from the Yuma and Elstree Studios shoot with negatives taken by Stuart Ziff from Richard Marquand’s Star Wars: Return of the Jedi. These photos depict the filming location in Yuma, Arizona, and at Elstree Studios in the UK around the same time, which include images of Phil Tippett and Stuart Freeborn on set. Included are images from filming, of the cast/crew off-set but on location socializing at the time, and some candid photos. In total, the images span the start of 1982 to late April 1982, as well as the 1982 Oscars.
This lot comes from the collection of effects pioneer Stuart Ziff. It contains over 100 black and white negatives taken on set in Yuma, 30 35mm color slides taken on set in Yuma, over 40 3″ x 5″ (7.75 cm x 12.75 cm) photos taken at Elstree Studios in the UK or with UK crew members, and approximately 50 related to the film industry and film industry personnel. It also includes various personal photos shot at the same time, which are not connected to films or film industry personnel. Vintage prints and the original 35mm negatives (in dated folders indicating the day shot) are also included.
