Peter Robb-King, Darth Vader’s Make-Up Artist on Return of the Jedi, is the tenth and final guest announced as attending Echo Base Live Episode XVI: Destroy the Death Star, on Saturday, March 29th, 2025 at the Kingfisher Shopping Centre in Redditch.
Peter is an English makeup artist who was employed to do Sebastian Shaws make-up for the unmasking of Darth Vader for his final moments in Return of the Jedi. The now redeemed Vader, with his grey, scarred skin, looks upon his son, his saviour, with his “own eyes”, thus completing the epic arc of one of pop culture’s most iconic characters.
Peter Robb-King has been at the forefront as a make-up artist, make-up supervisor and later, Head of Department, for some of the biggest names in cinema: Laurence Olivier, Harrison Ford, Sean Connery, Sigourney Weaver and Tim Curry to name but a handful (for Curry, he helped create an iconic character in Frank-N-Furter on The Rocky Horror Picture Show). He also laid his hand upon both Matrix sequels, helping to further the surreal look of those films.
In 1993 Peter won the BAFTA Award for Best Make-up Artist, for his exceptional work on The Last of the Mohicans. Peter has also been nominated for an Oscar and many other awards.
Away from Star Wars, Peter has worked on a range of brilliant films including Aliens, Alien 3, Outland, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, Who Framed Roger Rabbit, Last of the Mohicans, Lost in Space, The Fugitive, The Rock, The Matrix Reloaded, and The Dark Knight.
Peter will be join us all day, signing autographs and answering your questions. He will also be joining our Star Guest Dinner.
Autograph Price: £25
Peter Robb-King joins Glyn Baker, Kenneth Colley, Dermot Crowley, Tim Dry, Garrick Hagon, Guy Henry, Jack Klaff, Hilton McRae and Tina Simmons at the show. Tickets are available now via the Echo Base Facebook groups.
